Alternative To Probate In Washington State

After a person dies, a probate involving a court is not always required or appropriate. The state of Washington has an alternative to probate known as a small estates affidavit for estates with a net value not greater than $100,000. Use of the affidavit is governed by statute. A court is not involved in the process. In the right circumstances, it can be a very useful tool.

If you need assistance with a probate or use of an alternative to probate such as the small estates affidavit, contact Per Oscarsson or one of the other attorneys in Beresford Booth’s Estate Planning and Probate Group.
