Washington Launches New COVID-19 Risk Assessment Dashboard

Todd J. Cook Edmonds LawyerOn June 3, 2020, the Washington Department of Health announced the launch of an updated COVID-19 risk assessment dashboard.  The dashboard includes detailed data relating to six topics:  Phases & Risk Assessment, COVID-19 Disease Activity, Testing Capacity, Healthcare System Readiness, Case Investigations and Contact Tracing, and Populations at Higher Risk.  In addition to identifying the current phase for each county in the state, the dashboard allows users to view detailed information on a county-by-county basis relating to the “metrics” the Department of Health will utilize to assess county applications to advance to the next phase of the “Safe Start Washington: Phased Reopening County-By-County” plan.

The Department of Health typically announces its decisions on county phase applications in a written news release.  A chronological listing of the Department’s news releases can be found in its online “Newsroom.”  Currently, 27 counties have been admitted to Phase 2 and 12 counties remain in Phase 1.  The latest application decision was announced on Monday, June 1st, when Klickitat County was admitted to Phase 2.  Several of the state’s largest counties, including Snohomish County and Pierce County, have submitted applications this week to move to Phase 2.  King County has applied for a modified version of Phase 1.
