Community Spotlight: Beresford Booth is a Proud Sponsor of the UW Men’s Rugby Club
For the second year in a row, Beresford Booth is the platinum sponsor of the University of Washington Men’s Rugby Club. Begun in 1963, the Club has a long tradition of excellence, but the origins were humble – the Club initially solicited new players in the UW Daily newspaper. While some top players now receive private scholarships through the Husky Rugby Alumni Association, many players over the years – like Beresford Booth partner Bill Kessler – were former high school athletes who joined after missing the rigor of athletic competition. The Husky Rugby Club is the oldest sports club on the UW campus, and it continues to thrive.
The Husky Rugby Club strives to prepare its players for success both on and off the pitch (the rugby field of play). The coaches and alumni encourage academic excellence by providing support for players in the classroom. The Club creates a strong brotherhood and community with an active alumni network. The Club fosters an environment of great discipline and respect, as well as mental and physical toughness and resilience, in ways well-learned participating in a rough team sport such as rugby. The loyalty is deep, and the connections last a lifetime – “Once a Dawg, Always a Dawg!”
The rugby team continues to build leaders on and off the pitch. If you would like to join Beresford Booth in supporting the ongoing development of future leaders, click HERE to learn more and donate.
